    April 7, 2020

    Salaam Alaikum Parents,

We pray that you and your family are all well and keeping safe.
By the grace of the Almighty, we have gone through a number of adjustments at Al-QaAim and we sincerely thank our very hardworking admin team and teachers for all of their diligence and creativity.  We also appreciate the support from all of the parents and the students.
Over the past couple of weeks you should having been receiving communication every week from each of your child's teacher with the weekly lesson as well as the homework assignment to be completed.  We would like to thank you for your support in encouraging your children to review the work and complete the assignments.   If you don't see emails from the teachers, check your junk and/or spam folder.
In light of our earlier closure for COVID-19, our e-classes will continue over the Easter Long Weekend so we can make up for lost time.
Beginning last week, a number of the upper level students have begun to have interactive classes using the ZOOM software.  As we learn from these experiences, additional teachers will begin to implement interactive classes starting Saturday April 11.  If your child is part of an online class, we recommend that you ensure that your child turns on the camera to allow for a truly collaborative experience.  During these online classes, the children are expected to maintain Islamic dress code.  Teachers will provide information on how to join their online classes.
As mentioned in our last communication, we continue to explore various options on how to deliver meaningful lessons and experiences to our students.  As of next week, we will be testing out the Google Classroom software with a few of our Tarbiyyah classes.  Google Classroom is an interactive tool that makes it easier for the students to collaborate with the teacher as well as their classmates.  We will keep you updated on the progress of this initiative.
Our IT team has also been working hard to ensure that we have all the information required to move forward on all these online initiatives.  You can now provide us with up to 3 contact email addresses.  In addition, we can store email addresses as well as phone numbers of all the students.
If you need to update any of your contact information or if you would like us to have your child's contact information, please login to the al-QaAim portal at https://www.al-qaaim.ca/login using either your family ID (FMID) or the email address that you registered with.
Feel free to email admin@al-qaaim.ca if you have any further questions.
